Mission: 1.To provide our senior population with the artistic material and training in order that they may have the same opportunities given the younger community.
2. To add the concept of gallery space for the senior community from their own exisitng community rooms, outwards to the local business, library, and town center.
3. For developing a resource bank of art materials, artisans, instructors, organizations, and foundations which could be accessed for the counties of Addison, Chittenden, Franklin, and Grand Isle.
4.Give the senior community, most of whom are on limited income on our senior housing, the potential of marketing their artistic endeavors.
5.Through the use of visual arts, a place and an occasion to nurture and support the creative spirit of our senior citizens.
6. With seniors as the central voice, listen and implement any changes they feel is necessary in expanding their artistic and personal growth.
7. To develop and implement a multi-generational element whereas seniors can participate and help those of youth and young parents using art as the vehicle while broadening their own experience.

The Elder Art Program was formed by Mark Montalban, the present director, after a well-received senior art class in Burlington, Vermont, the fall of 1996. We became a non-profit with active board in September 1998. The organization has 343 members in 4 counties, and has a speakers bureau of said seniors who talk about their experiences and their art at local radio, tv, civic organizations, & libraries. Most of our members never had painted or drawn before in their life. Our oldest member is presently 94.
